Bonnie Stauffer 1945-2020

Bonita Lou “Bonnie” Stauffer, 75, of Holton, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, in Holton.

She was born May 6, 1945, in Holton, the daughter of Melvin and Aileen (Hallauer) Oxandale. 

Bonnie graduated from Whiting High School in 1963 and later attended Clark’s Business School in Topeka. She worked for Denison State Bank as a teller for several years and was also a bookkeeper and helped with taxes at Farm Management in Holton. Her last job, and most favorite, was babysitting her four grandchildren. 

Bonnie married Rodney Stauffer on March 25, 1967 in Whiting. They celebrated more than 53 years of marriage. 

Survivors include her husband, Rodney, of the home; son, Mike Stauffer of Fairview; two daughters, Ronda Bohannon (Donnie) of Holton and Lori Barnes (Jason) of Holton; sister, Linda Howes (Jim) of Whiting; four grandchildren, Lindsey Bohannon (fiancé Trevor Eastland), Cody Bohannon and Jacee and Jake Barnes; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jordyn Eastland. 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Amon.

Private family graveside services will be held Monday, Nov. 23 in Holton Cemetery. She will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton from Friday afternoon, Nov. 20, through Sunday, until 6 p.m. each day.
