Bob Strawn 1934-2018

Robert William “Bob” Strawn, 83, Denison, died Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born May 15, 1934, in Valley Falls, the son of William Ellis and Harriett A. Gile Strawn. He graduated from Denison High School in 1953 and had lived in the Denison community since 1949.

Mr. Strawn worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, retiring in 1994 after 40 years. He also was a farmer and stockman, raising exotic chickens and Hereford cattle.

He married Sallyann Cashman on Oct. 16, 1955, in Denison. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Daniel A. Strawn, Detroit, Texas, Noel W. Strawn, Jacksonville, N.C., and John E. Strawn and wife Cindy, Holton; a daughter, Janet F. Billquist, Holton; a sister, Sarah Lynn DeVader, Holton; a brother, Curtis Strawn, Topeka; two stepsisters, Theresa McNary, Ozawkie, and Julie Kennedy, Topeka; two grandsons; seven granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Strawn.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
