Bob George 1941-2015
Robert Merlin “Bob” George, 74, Nacogdoches, Texas, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, in Nacogdoches.
He was born March 1, 1941, in Grand Junction, Colo., the son of Earl and Marjory George. He also lived in Idaho, in Grantsville, Utah, and in Alaska as a youth.
Mr. George enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1963, serving for eight years during the Vietnam War era and was a B-52 simulator expert. He also served at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka before retiring from the military and working for 34 years with Frito-Lay in Topeka, Louisville, Ky., and the Dallas, Texas area, working as an engineer, building facilities manager, plant engineer and plant manager.
He was active in his church and was ordained as a deacon in 1978, serving on the deacon board of all the churches he attended.
He married Nancy Lynch in 1966. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Robert “Bobby” George and wife Ellen; a daughter, Carrie Davis and husband Bobby; three grandchildren Rob George, Caitlyn Davis and Haylie Davis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marjory George; and a brother, Dick George.
Burial with military honors was held Tuesday in Wetmore Cemetery.
