Bob Bowser 1932-2020
Robert “Bob” Jackson Bowser, 87, Emmett, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Tanglewood Health and Rehab in Topeka.
He was born June 2, 1932, in rural Mayetta, the son of Lloyd Jackson and Sarah Bostwick Bowser. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1950.
Mr. Bowser served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. He later worked for Jackson County as a heavy equipment operator for more than 25 years. He was also a lifelong farmer and stockman.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Bible Baptist Church.
He married Eva Virginia DeGroff on Oct. 23, 1959, in Onaga. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Mark Bowser and wife Denise, Emmett; two sisters, Edna Starr, Topeka, and Barbara Amos, Olathe; a brother, Larry Bowser and wife Alice, Meriden; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Wayne Bowser; a sister, Ila “Mae” Martin; and a brother, Clifford Bowser.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Soldier Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
