Bill Webster 1933-2018
William “Bill” Eugene Webster, 85, Whiting, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at his home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Burden, the son of Harvey Charles and Zetta Burris Webster.
Mr. Webster served from 1953 to 1956 in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for May Ransom Sheets and Andrews Asphalt in Topeka before retiring.
He was a 50-year member of Operating Engineers Union 101, a lifetime member of the Holton VFW, DAV and PVA.
He married Doris J. O’Neal in 1965 in Netawaka. They divorced.
Survivors include four daughters, Candice Schmitt and husband Doug, Horton, Sandra Martin and husband Darrell, Holton, Rhonda Toth, Horton, and Thresa Bontrager and husband Russell, Netawaka; two sons, Jay Cochran and wife Becky, Holton, and Dan Webster and wife Beth, Topeka; a brother, Tom Webster, Whiting; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rickey Cochran; and two brothers, James Webster and John Webster.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, where family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9. A private family burial will be held following the services at the Webster Farm.
