Bill Teter 1936-2019

Bill J. Teter, 83, Holton, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019 at his son’s home in Holton.

He was born March 15, 1936, in Winfield, the son of Jay Roscoe and Opal Aileen Albright Teter. He graduated from Circleville High School and was a lifetime member of the Jackson County community.

Mr. Teter served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1959 and in the Army Reserves from 1959 to 1972. He worked many years for General Foods in Topeka.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Holton and a former student and leader for Boy Scouts of America. 

He married Jean Ellen Meyer on July 6, 1958, in Holton. She died Dec. 9, 1999. 

Survivors include a son, Brent W. Teter and wife Cindy, Holton; a daughter, Kimberly Teter-Cope and husband Larry, Hawarden, Iowa; two brothers, Roscoe D. Teter, Circleville, and Bobby R. Teter, Peculiar, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Breanna N. Teter, Ethan M. Teter and Braun A. Teter. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at Mercer Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends before the service.
