Bill Mattox 1964-2022

William Allen “Bill” Mattox, 58, of Holton, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at his home with family by his side. Bill fought a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Feb. 8, 1964, in Topeka, the son of Donald John and Marlene (McClain) Mattox.

Bill graduated from Holton High School and attended Vo-Tech, earning his electrician certificate. He worked for the Distribution Center (Power Plant) for the City of Holton and Essex Wire in Topeka. He was a few months away from retiring from BNSF Railroad after working as an electrician for more than 30 years.

He attended Evangel United Methodist Church (now Evangel Holton) and was a member of IBEW Local 959.

Bill enjoyed electronics, most recently creating items with his 3-D printer, working on old tractors, riding his motorcycle and collecting old CJ7 Jeeps.

Bill married Barbara Ruth Arnold on Feb. 19 in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his daughter, Megan Montgomery (Noel) of Holton; two sons, Matt Mattox (Stacey) of Boerne, Texas, and John Mattox (Hailey) of Goff; a sister, Marla Beaver (Fred) of Springfield, Mo.; and nine grandchildren, Madeline, Blade, Zane, Colt, Kirby, Case, Macey, Cinch and Clint.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marlene Mattox; and a brother, John Henry Mattox.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Evangel Holton Church. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
