Bill Jones 1944-2016
Hugh William "Bill" Jones, 72, of Topeka, formerly of Holton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
He was born Aug. 7, 1944, in Holton, the son of Wayne D. and Lillie B. (Beamer) Jones.
Bill graduated from Sabetha High School in 1962 and attended Ottawa University and Emporia State Teachers College. He had lived in Topeka for about a year, 25 years in Colorado and 17 years in Holton.
Bill managed Hertz Car Sales in Ft. Collins, Colo., and Ford Motor Credit in Denver, Colo. He also managed General Finance Co. in Wichita. He had been a car salesman for Foster Ford in Holton for more than 15 years before retiring due to health reasons. Bill loved bird hunting.
He married Linda Sue Cupp on Sept. 26, 1965 in Sabetha; they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2015. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Brian Jones of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a brother, James D. "Jim" Jones (Patsy) of Netawaka; a brother-in-law, Nick Niquette of Woonsocket, R.I.; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Jones McCoy and Connie J. Niquette.
Memorial services were held Monday morning at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will be in the Netawaka Cemetery at a later date.
