Bill Jacobs 1942-2020

William Robert “Bill” Jacobs, 77, Las Vegas, Nev., died Saturday, April 11, 2020, in Las Vegas after a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 23, 1942, in San Francisco, Calif., the son of William C. and Holice Jacobs. He grew up in Holton and was a graduate of Holton High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Kansas State University in Manhattan, a master’s degree in business administration from Montana State University and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was a member of the Triangle Fraternity while attending KSU.

Mr. Jacobs served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years and was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N.M., Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Mont., Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, Calif., and the Nevada Test Site north of Las Vegas, Nev. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in Las Vegas for 19 years.

He married Laura Jane Lambert on Nov. 30, 1968, at chapel 2 at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N.M. She preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Jacobs, Henderson, Nev.; a daughter, Kim Brown Sims, Napa, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Mikenna Sims of Sacramento, Calif.

Graveside funeral services and burial were held by Davis Funeral Homes and Memorial Park in Las Vegas, Nev.
