Beverly Flanders 1931-2016
Beverly June Flanders, 85, Topeka, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at Midland Hospice in Topeka.
She was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Topeka, the daughter of Walter and Cora Alice Love Sharrai. She grew up in Topeka and the surrounding communities, including Willard, and graduated in 1950 from Holton High School.
Mrs. Flanders worked for J.C. Penney’s and later for Volume Shoe in Topeka, where she retired as a payroll specialist.
She married Raymond Flanders on March 24, 1951, in Holton. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Steve Flanders and wife Diane, Topeka; three grandchildren, Katrina, Austin and Randy; two sisters, Phyllis Hirst and husband Darold, Overland Park, and Shirley Flanders and husband Richard, Topeka; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pat Dohrman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will follow in Olive Hill Cemetery west of Holton. Mrs. Flanders will lie in state at the funeral home, where family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
