Barbara Bowden 1946-2017
Barbara Bowden, 71, Hoyt, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at The Pines in Holton.
She was born Jan. 12, 1946, in Topeka, the daughter of Milton and Ruth Sconce Newlun. She graduated from Hoyt High School.
Mrs. Bowden was a homemaker and a life-long member of the Hoyt community.
She was a member of Hoyt United Methodist Church.
She married Virgil Bowden on April 23, 1966, in Hoyt. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Tod Bowden and wife Lisa and Sean Bowden and wife Angela, both of Hoyt; a daughter, Paula Beasterfield and husband Steven, Mayetta; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hoyt United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hoyt Cemetery. Mrs. Bowden will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, where family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today (Wednesday).
