Badger Wahwasuck 1950-2021

Badger Roy Wahwasuck, 71, Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation, Mayetta, died Monday, May 3, 2021, at his home.

He was born April 27, 1950, in Holton, the son of Trilby Hix and Lucille Bennick Wahwasuck.

Mr. Wahwasuck was a professional pow wow dancer. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Karen Janet Leman Wahwasuck; sisters, Velma Wahwasuck and Shawnie Smith and husband Chev; eldest son, John Roy Wahwasuck; eldest daughter, Josette Scholfield and husband Douglas; son/nephew, Greg Wahwasuck; son, Trilby Wahwasuck; daughter, Adriana Tobey and husband Arlan; son, Louie Cervantes and wife Arnalda; and grandchildren, Keenen and Labradford Wahwasuck, Alicia, Daniel and Dasan Scholfield, Sophia and Adriana Suke, Travis and Victor (Littles) Ortero and Dania and Arianna Wahwasuck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Trilby and Lucille Wahwasuck; brothers, Clyde Papakee and Luther Wahwasuck; and sister, Edna “Crunchie” Johnson.

Wake and services will be held Tuesday evening, May 4 at the Danceground Building on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
