Aurora Knoxsah 1952-2021

Aurora Kay “Pegsha” Knoxsah, 68, Mayetta, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born Dec. 24, 1952, in Lawrence, the daughter of Henry and Leona Mzhickteno Knoxsah.

Ms. Knoxsah was a homemaker.

She was a member of Native American Church and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Survivors include five children, Jennifer Meacham and husband Zackary, Lawrence, Melvin Lewis and wife Tiffany, Horton, Kelly Lewis-Mills and husband Patrick, Mayetta, Dana Lewis and wife Regina, Topeka, and Jillena Knoxsah, Mayetta; sister, Deena Desjarliat, Mayetta; two brothers, Martin Knoxsah, Hutchinson, and Clifford Knoxsah, Topeka; 24 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leona Knoxsah; a sister, Vernona L. “Vernie” Lewis; and three brothers, James, David and Virgil Knoxsah.

Native American Services will be held Wednesday evening, Oct. 20 at Nozhackum Hall on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation. Burial will be held at sunrise on Thursday, Oct. 21 at Mahkuk Cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
