Arthur Snyder 1923-2015

 

Arthur Snyder, 92, Highland, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Hiawatha Community Hospital.

He was born June 14, 1923, on a farm northeast of Hiawatha, the son of William Franklin and Nell Kramer Snyder. He attended coun­try school and had lived in the Hiawatha and Highland areas all of his life.

Mr. Snyder was a farmer and later operated a St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press route for several years. He also served as curator of the Iowa Sac and Fox Museum east of Highland before retiring.

He was a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church north of Leona. He was a volunteer for Highland Pride and a member of Highland Saddle Club.

He married Betty Wareham on Dec. 8, 1947, at Hiawatha. She sur­vives.

Other survivors include three sons, Dennis Snyder and Randy Snyder, both of Highland, and Bob Wareham, Whiting; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre­ceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.

A celebration of life service was held Monday morning at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Jerry Petering officiat­ing. Interment followed in Hiawatha Cemetery.
