Anna Smith 1939-2017

Anna “Nadine” Smith, 78, Whiting, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.

She was born May 12, 1939, in Arlington, Texas, the daughter of Arndt and Opal Scheid Schumann. She graduated from Topeka High School. 

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a farm wife.

She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Horton.

She married Daryl Smith on June 29, 1957, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. He survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sheryl Callison and husband Mark, Holton; four sons, Terry Smith and wife Gena, Horton, Garry Smith and wife Kerri, Soldier, Jerry Smith, Whiting, and Perry Smith and wife Sarah, Wetmore; a brother, Donald Schumann, Corona, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Curtis Smith.

Funeral mass was held Monday morning at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Horton. Burial was held in St. Leo’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nadine Smith Memorial Fund, to be designated later and sent in care of Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton.
