Alvena Widner 1931-2018
Alvena Mae Widner, 86, Holton, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Atria Hearthstone East in Topeka.
She was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Sedan, the daughter of Sen. Nathaniel and Dorothy Cooper Walker. She graduated from Laramie High School in Laramie, Wyo.
Mrs. Widner was a film clerk for the State Health Department, retiring after 27 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holton, a 10-year member of D.A.R. and a member of Mustang Camping Club.
She married Donald R. Widner on June 26, 1949, in Laramie, Wyo. He died March 19, 2011.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue McClintock and husband Roger, Holton; a son, Terry L. Widner and wife Kathy, Topeka; a sister, Sharon Williams and husband Larry, San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 29 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial following in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
