Aletha Williams 1924-2022

Aletha I. Bottenberg Williams, 97, Holton, formerly of Netawaka, died Monday, May 10, 2022, at The Pines in Holton.

She was born June 27, 1924, in Netawaka, the daughter of Frank William and Carrie L. Cochren Bottenberg. She graduated from Netawaka High School in 1942.

Mrs. Williams was a clerk at the Netawaka Post Office in the 1940s. She later was a homemaker and housewife, and she served as a pianist at Jackson Heights High School for many years.

She was a member of Lakeview Faith Chapel and a past member of St. Cecelia Music Club. She played piano for residents at Medicalodges Jackson County Nursing Home and Merry Manor Nursing Home for more than 30 years.

She married Wayne Henry Williams on April 29, 1944, in Whiting. He died April 15, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a son, Darrell Williams; and a brother, Charles Bottenberg.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Bontrager and husband Roger, Holton; three sons, Dave Williams and wife Mary, Netawaka, Henry Williams and wife Marty, Soldier, and Frank Williams and wife Sonya, Netawaka; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
