Toots Glaze 1923-2015
Margaret Arlene “Toots” Glaze, 92, Holton, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, at Community Hospital Onaga.
She was born Feb. 9, 1923, northwest of Minneola, the daughter of Bertie and Clarence Creamer. She graduated from Minneola High School in 1941.
Mrs. Glaze worked for the postal service at Minneola as a clerk and later as a substitute mail carrier for two regular routes. She later worked at hospitals in Minneola and Bucklin before moving to Paola. She later moved to Soldier, then to Skidmore, Mo., before returning to Holton to live at Cypress Glen. She later moved to Red Bud Assisted Living in Onaga, then later to Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.
She married Clarence Glaze on May 31, 1941, in Minneola. He died in March of 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patsy Jewell, in infancy; a sister, Hazel Granke; two brothers, Leonard and Willard Aue; and a nephew, Larry Aue.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Messer and husband Howard, Soldier; grandsons, Doey Messer and wife Lori, Soldier, Brian Messer and wife Kelly, Mound City, Mo., Lowell Messer and wife Marcy, Smithville, Mo., and Loren Messer and wife Marisa, Scranton, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, including Jim Aue, Paradise, Calif.; a brother, Clarence Creamer, Beaverton, Ore.; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Cremation is planned. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be held at a later date at Minneola.
Memorial contributions may be made to a missionary effort in Zambia, overseen by her niece and husband, NESTeam International, and may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1034, Holton, KS 66436.
