Ike Broxterman 1928-2015

 

Norbert John “Ike” Broxterman, 86, Seneca, formerly of Soldier, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Crestview Nurs­ing and Residential Living in Seneca.

He was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Baileyville, the son of Joseph H. and Bernadine C. Voet Broxter­man. He attended school in Bai­leyville and graduated from the eighth grade.

Mr. Broxterman was a herdsman. He moved to Summerfield and raised livestock; in 1954, he pur­chased a farm in Soldier, where he continued to raise livestock. He moved to Red Bud Plaza in Onaga in 2007 and to Crestview in 2009.

He was a member of St. Pat­rick’s Catholic Church in Corning and was a former member of the church council.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Vincent Broxterman; and four sisters, Norene Bauer, Mary Montgomery, Esther Brox­terman and Odelia Sudbeck.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Jan. 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, with Fr. Arul Carasala officiating. Burial was held in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Benedict or St. Patrick’s Church, Corning. Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca is in charge of arrange­ments.
