Everett Moulden 1936-2018
Everett Carl Moulden, 82, Alamo, Texas, formerly of Holton, died Monday, July 23, 2018, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.
He was born July 18, 1936, in Compton, Calif., the son of Everett E. and Carlina Gomez Moulden. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1954.
Mr. Moulden served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1973, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation and Fifth Good Conduct Medal Award for the period ending June 4, 1973. He worked various jobs until 1977, then started with the United States Postal Service in Topeka as lead mechanic in vehicle maintenance. He retired in 1998 after 19 years.
He was a lifetime member of Holton VFW Post 1367 and Holton American Legion Post 44.
He married Patricia Galene Pittenger on Oct. 31, 1954, in Holton. She died Feb. 21, 2011. He married Arleta Vanourney on April 30, 2012, in Holton and settled in Alamo, Texas. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Mickeal Moulden and Mark Moulden and wife Tammy, all of Holton; a daughter, Tracy Farmer, O’Fallon, Mo.; a brother, William Moulden and wife Eula, Wakarusa; six grandchildren, Jessica Roark and husband Alex, Jared and Joshua Moulden, Blake Moulden and wife Rachel, Audrey Cox and husband Brian and Jordan Farmer; six great-grandchildren, Maggie Jo, Beau and Thomas Moulden, Ellis and Cooper Cox and Sebastian Roark; a half-brother, Bobby Moulden and wife Judy; and a half-sister, Linda Moulden.
Funeral services was held Monday, July 30 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Olive Hill Cemetery.
