Sheryl Stremmel 1949-2018

Sheryl Renee Stremmel, 68, Hoyt, died Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 25, 1949, in Macon, Ga., the daughter of Forrest Dean and Elsie June Collins. She graduated from Benson High School in Omaha, Neb., and later graduated from Kaw Valley Vo-Tech with a LPN degree.

Ms. Stremmel worked at numerous nursing homes for many years. She retired from Medicalodges Jackson County in 2016.

She was a member of Lakeview Faith Chapel in Holton.

She married Michael L. Stremmel. They later divorced.

Survivors include her stepfather, Everett Campbell, Oroville, Calif.; two daughters, Michelle Scheidegger and husband Charlie, Mayetta, and Lacretia Porubsky and husband Mark, Topeka; a sister, Larice Murphy, Carbondale; two half-brothers, Jeff Dean and David Dean, both in Missouri; three grandchildren, Ivy Porubsky, Michael Stremmel and Jonathan Stremmel; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Kaison and Rowan. She was preceded in death by her father, Forrest Dean; her mother, E. June Campbell; and two sisters, Lynna Kay Beagle and Candy Dean.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Hoyt Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
