Raymond Reece 1925-2018

Raymond Thomas Reece, 92, Houston, Texas, died March 2, 2018, in Houston.

He was born Dec. 22, 1925, the son of Raymond Reece Sr. and Vera Reece Nelson. 

Mr. Reece served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. He went into the ministry in 1947 and worked in Kansas, Arizona and New Mexico before going into Mexico in 1958. He returned to Kansas from 2011 to 2015, and in March 2015 he moved to the Pecan Grove assisted living and care facility in Waverly, Texas.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Williams Nelson and husband Sam, Delano, Minn., and Sandra Molinari Nelson and husband Robert, New Lennox, Ill.; and cousins, Estelle Pagel, Holton, and Jim Dobbins, Goff. He was preceded in death by his father in 1993; his mother in 1971; a brother, Donald Reece, in 1986; and two half-brothers, Sam Nelson in 2009 and Robert “Bobby” Nelson in 2015.

Funeral services were held March 10 at the Pecan Grove facility in Waverly, Texas, and on March 12 in Derby. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery, Goff, followed by a luncheon at Goff United Methodist Church.
