Dennis Blossom 1936-2018

Dennis K. Blossom, 81, of Marshall, Mo., died Monday, May 7, 2018, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, Mo., with William W. Harlow officiating. Inurnment will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Salt Fork YMCA and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born Aug. 3, 1936, in Holton, he was the son of the late Orvis Blossom and Doris Boetcher Blossom. Dennis was born and raised in Holton, where he was a 1954 graduate of Holton High School. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Kansas State University, and then his master’s degree in education from University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

On July 4, 1987, Dennis married Nancy Hupp, who survives of the home.

He worked in Budget and Finance for the University of Missouri for 30 years and then retired from the World Presidents’ Organization as Vice President of Event Planning. His career with the World Presidents’ Organization allowed him the opportunity to travel the world, as well as meet numerous well-known people including, but not limited to, Fidel Castro, Mikhail Gorbachev, Rod Stewart, Omar Sharif and Billy Graham.

Dennis and Nancy moved to Marshall in 2013 and became active in the local community. Dennis attended coffee most mornings with the “Bloomfield’s Coffee Crew,” as well as going to the Salt Fork YMCA every day he was able. 

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by four children: Jay Blossom (Julie) of Webster Groves, Mo., Stuart Blossom (Shannon Weaver) of Wellesley, Mass., Andrew Blossom of Richmond, Va., and Libby Blossom (Todd Beyreuther) of Spokane, Wash.; nine grandchildren: Danielle, Gabby, Jake, Dede and Ella Blossom, and Owen, Lily, Hadley and Elliot Beyreuther; a sister, Janice Bowser of Holton; his mother-in-law, Virginia Hupp, of the home; as well as nieces and nephews.
