Lester Shupe 1938-2018

Lester E. Shupe, 79, of Circleville, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Onaga Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Topeka, the son of Oscar Curtis and Lela Frances (Myers) Shupe.

Lester graduated from Circleville High School in 1957. He worked for more than 40 years for Strader Drilling Company as a pump installer and repairman.

Lester was a member of the Circleville Christian Church.

Lester married Shirley A. Snyder on Aug. 30, 1958 in Circleville; they were united in marriage for 59 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; his children, Cindy A. Shupe of Topeka, Kevin E. Shupe (Tamzen Steege) of Alma and Todd E. Shupe of Douglas, Mich.; a brother, Melvin Shupe of Circleville; six grandchildren, Stephanie Strawn, Megan Strawn (Billie Royer), Justin Strawn (Kristina), James Lopez (Kendra), Leslie Shupe (Mike Stover) and Tye Shupe (Chelsea); and eight great-grandchildren, Nicole, Cooper, Landen, Zandler, Violet, Jaela, Kyle and Kaeden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marvin Shupe, in 1935, and Claude Shupe, in 2009.

Cremation has taken place, per Lester’s wishes. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. A register book is available at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
