Diana Kauffman 1930-2018

Diana May (Barnes) Kauffman passed away on Feb. 24, 2018, in Bakersfield, Calif., at the age of 87.

Born May 29, 1930, in Circleville, Diana was a June bride the year of her Topeka High School graduation (1948). She married the love of her life, Harvey Rex Kauffman Jr., and they lived happily married for 69 years, till death did they part.

She was the mother of two boys, grandmother to two children and great-grandmother to three. She cared for her husband and they raised their children with love and devotion. She adored her grandchildren and was always proud of their accomplishments. Her great-grandchildren were the light of her life in her senior years.

She liked to do oil painting, sewing, crafts of many kinds and reading about the American West. She liked cards and dancing with her husband. Her favorite activities centered around music. She played the piano and loved to sing. She was a member of Sweet Adelines and performed for nearly two decades singing bass in their chorus and quartet.

She is survived and will be missed by her husband Harvey; her brother, Gary (Deanna) Barnes; her eldest son, Kris (Trisha) Kauffman; daughter-in-law, Kathy Kauffman; grandchildren, Lindsay (Steven) Bentley and Stephen (Leslie) Kauffman; and great-grandchildren, Grace and Grant Bentley and Allison Kauffman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Angie Barnes; stepfather, Clarence Pierce; and son, Kent Kauffman.

There will be no public services. Diana’s ashes will be buried in the family plot in the Circleville Cemetery.
