Ron Childs 1955-2018

Ronald Eugene “Woody” Childs, 62, Russell, formerly of Netawaka, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at his home.

He was born April 2, 1955, in Topeka, the son of Robert N. and Martha Jane Childs. He graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 1973 and lived most of his life in the Netawaka area.

Mr. Childs was a grocery store manager in Holton for more than 20 years before his health forced him to retire.

He married Sharon Fitzsimmons in 2017. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Martha Childs, Bellevue, Neb.; a sister, Barbara Prestito and husband Rick, Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Mike Childs, Blair, Neb.; a son, Ryan Childs and wife Krista, Circleville; two daughters, Staci Honas, Wetmore, and Kerra Taylor and husband Kyle, Mayetta; two stepdaughters, Sherri Wheless and husband Bo, Mayetta, and Terry Young and husband Greg, Holton; seven grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Childs.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
