Adalee Cunning-Moffitt 1923-2018

Adalee Marie Cunning-Moffitt, 94, Meriden, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at her home.

She was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Meriden, the daughter of Roy and Anna Ammen Cunning. She graduated from Rock Creek High School in 1941.

Mrs. Cunning-Moffitt was a member of the Meriden Community Church, Jefferson County Historical Society, Jefferson County Genealogy Society, Platte County Genealogy Society and the NRA.

She married Vernon Clark in 1946. They divorced. She married Earl “Lee” Moffitt in 1956. He died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Melba Persing; and a granddaughter, Mary Kate Clark.

Survivors include two children, Beverly Clark-Goodyear, Topeka, and Carrol Clark, Piqua; four grandchildren, Tod Adams, Denison, Jason Clark, Wichita, and Matthew Clark and Sarah Clark, both of Piqua; six stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Amber Wells, Carbondale, Danny Adams and Ariel Adams, both of Denison, Briar Adams, Topeka, and Mya Clark Theim, Wichita; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nephews, Thomas Persing, Topeka, and Douglas Persing, Meriden; and a niece, Jennifer Persing, Meriden.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Meriden Community Church. Cremation will follow. Mrs. Cunning-Moffitt will lie in state after 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence Ave., Topeka, where  family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
