Merle Marmet 1931-2018

Merle L. Marmet, 86, Topeka, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Rossville Nursing Home.

He was born July 18, 1931, on a farm north of Sabetha, the son of Wesley and Viola Enchelberger Marmet. He graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1949 at Salem, Neb.

Mr. Marmet served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Topeka, retiring in 1986.

He was an active member of Soldier Christian Church for several years.

He married Mary Ann Wagner on Oct. 7, 1953, in Humboldt, Neb. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Susan Diehl and husband Mike, Sanger, Texas, and Linda Powell and husband Bruce, Topeka; two brothers, Marion Marmet, Sabetha, and Paul Marmet, Topeka; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Marmet.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Soldier Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
