Swindale wins 2016 Super Football Sweepstakes

Sam Swindale of Holton was named the winner of the 2016 Super Football Sweepstakes, as her prediction for the outcome of the Super Bowl last Sunday was the closest of any of the 471 entries in the free contest. Swindale’s prediction was just one point off the actual score.

Swindale predicted a 23-10 win for the NFL’s Denver Broncos over the Carolina Panthers in her entry placed at the Casey’s General Store highway location. The final score actually was 24-10 in Denver’s favor.

The prize for winning the 2016 Super Football Sweepstakes was a new 32-inch flat-screen color television. The prize was provided by the 24 local businesses that sponsored the fun activity.

In the Super Football Sweepstakes, participants were allowed to enter the contest one time at each of the participating businesses.

Curtis Simon of Horton predicted the correct score in the Super Football Sweepstakes at BeginAgains. The only problem was that Simon picked the Panthers to win the big game!

Nine other people also were close with their predictions.

Rhonda Doud of Mayetta predicted a 24-12 Bronco victory at Holton Dental.

Miranda Bergstresser of Whiting predicted a 24-13 Bronco victory at BeginAgains.

Joanne Graves of Holton predicted a 24-13 Bronco victory at Holton Farm and Home.

Sammy Manchester predicted a 24-14 Bronco win at Holton 66.

Courtney Baker of Holton, David Peters of Holton and Anthony Schuetz of Wetmore all predicted a 24-17 win for Denver at Off The Square Grill. 

Gerald Degand of Mayetta predicted a 24-17 Bronco win at Clark Chevrolet and Tonya Barta of Holton predicted a 21-14 Bronco win at Prairie Band One Stop.

Participating businesses this year were China Restaurant, Off The Square Grill, the New York Hair Affair, Holton 66, Holton Farm and Home, Vintage Park, Jackson Farmers Inc., BeginAgains, Holton Dental, Casey’s General Store (both Holton locations), Clark Chevrolet, Dairy Queen/Orange Julius, The Farmers State Bank, Koger Variety, Jayhawk TV and Appliance, Highland Community College, Prairie Band One Stop, Pizza Hut, Advanced Chiropractic Services, Giant Communications/JBN, Arnold’s Refrigeration, Medical Pharmacy, 7-Eleven and The Holton Recorder.
