Saturday is Jackson County 4-H Club Day

Temperatures may be dropping in the Jackson County area, but members of the county’s 4-H clubs are getting warmed up for another busy year.

Their talents will be on display at the annual Jackson County 4-H Club Day, set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Jackson Heights High School. The event is open to the general public and there is no charge to attend.

Extension officials noted that the annual event provides young people in 4-H with an opportunity to talk about projects and hobbies, as well as put their talents on display. It also serves as a confidence builder, helping 4-H members to work on their public speaking skills.

Similar events will take place in other counties in the Meadowlark district, which also includes Jefferson County, which also will hold its county club day on Saturday, and Nemaha County, which will hold its county club day on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Young people who receive top purple awards at the County 4-H Day will be eligible to compete at Regional 4-H Day, to be held Saturday, March 19 in Atchison. For more information, contact Cara Robinson, Jackson County 4-H program manager, at 364-4125.
