During Sunday's open house for the new Holton Elementary School, members of the public will be able to tour the building, which includes several murals like the one shown above. This mural can be seen to the right as soon as students and staff enter the building each day. The colorful paths on the floor lead to the different grade-level classrooms in the building.

Open house for new school is Sunday

Members of the public will finally be able to tour the inside of the new Holton Elementary School, which serves pre-K through fifth-grade students, during a special open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday, it has been announced. 

The event is set from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. that day at the new building, which is located at 812 W. 5th St. in Holton.

The open house will kick off with a welcome to the public and the playing of the National Anthem by the Holton High School Band.

Speakers will include Allen Arnold (school board president), Bob Dieckmann (mayor of Holton), Beth Smith (Holton Elementary School principal), Greg Porter (architect with the Hollis and Miller firm) and Mike Feamster or Jeff Bennet (representatives of Nabholz Construction).

Following the playing of the Holton school song by the HHS band, school officials will cut a ceremonial ribbon and open the school for the public open house.
