New AmeriCorps team on the job in Jackson County

Starting Monday, a new team of AmeriCorps volunteers will be serving Holton and Homestead Affordable Housing, Inc. (HAH) for 13 weeks, it has been reported.

A team of 10 young adults from the AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) have been assigned to Holton through July 6. This is the fifth team that has served in Holton since November 2015.

“The NCCC are young men and women who come prepared to help change the world here in the Holton, Jackson County area,” said Tom Bishop, president and CEO of HAH, a Kansas non-profit housing assistance organization.

AmeriCorps NCCC informed HAH recently that the team is coming to help rehabilitate homes, build wheelchair ramps and complete a variety of service assignments that will benefit those in Jackson County. The team arrived over the weekend.
