McLeod named new Chamber director
A Butler County resident with Holton ties has been chosen as the new director of the Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, it has been reported.
Elise McLeod, a native Kansan who has dedicated 25 years of her career to promoting Chase and Butler counties, will become the Chamber’s new director effective Nov. 30, replacing outgoing director Carolyn McKee. It was reported that McLeod is doing some “occasional work” in the Chamber office, starting this week under McKee’s guidance.
McLeod, who has family members, Charles and Helen Abramson, in Holton, earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University and from online classes. She has worked in the city manager’s office in Wichita, where she worked to obtain sponsorship for festivals and special events, facilitated the implementation of a non-profit after-school tutoring program and developed the marketing strategy for the-All American Indian Center.
She joined The International Trade Council and the Kansas Sunflower Parliamentarians in 2012 and assumed the role of President of the Neighborhood Watch Program and vice president of the Cassoday Community Center. She has overseen many aspects of finance, information systems, and economic development with an emphasis on government affairs and public relations. In addition, she served as the chief marketing resource manager for monthly publications.
She spends her free time assisting working cattle ranches with special events, volunteering at the Symphony in the Flint Hills and judging for the Wagon Master’s Chili Cook-off.
