Mayetta teen receives 16-month sentence
A Mayetta teen convicted in November of indecent liberties with a 3-year-old girl has been sentenced to 16 months at the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex, it was reported this morning in Jackson County District Court.
Weston Hasty, 17, who pleaded no contest to two charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child in relation to an incident that reportedly happened at a Mayetta day care center last June, received the sentence along with “aftercare” treatment as a juvenile from District Court Judge Micheal Ireland. The sentence took effect immediately, Ireland said.
Ireland also gave Hasty an “adult sentence” that would not be imposed if Hasty were to stay out of trouble during his juvenile sentence. Otherwise, Ireland said, Hasty would have to serve two consecutive 59-month sentences in prison and be on probation for 48 months following the sentence.
Ireland also ordered Hasty to register as a sex offender for the next five years. More information on the sentencing will be available in Monday’s Holton Recorder and online at holtonrecorder.net
