Frazier running unopposed for Holton school board seat

Rex Frazier, 48, Holton is running unopposed for position one on the Holton Board of Education in the April 7 spring election.

Frazier has worked for Denison State Bank since 2000. He is a certified financial planner and an assistant vice president at the bank. He previously taught and coached at Royal Valley (1994 - 2000) and Holton (1990 - 1994) school districts.

A graduate of Holton High School, Frazier received a bachelor of science degree in education, as well as a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at The University of Kansas.

This is his first time seeking public office.

“I believe a quality education is a key component in a young person’s ability to have a quality standard of living,” Frazier said. “I would like to provide steady leadership that creates an environment where teachers are able to stimulate and challenge the students.”

Frazier said his previous experiences in the classroom, as well as his college education, qualify him for this position.

“My mother taught for 40 years in Jackson County,” he said. “I have a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. My job and coursework to obtain my CFP (Certified Financial Planner) have taught me about budgeting. Plus, I have a love for Jackson County and truly want to see it succeed.”

Frazier also serves on the Jackson County Zoning Appeals Board, the Evangel United Methodist Church finance committee and the Jackson County Advisory Council for the United Way of Greater Topeka.

He has lived in Jackson County for 45 years. He and his wife, Traci, have three children.
