Fountain installed at Elkhorn Lake
Holton Parks and Recreation director Mike Reichle (left) thanked Holton resident Jan Hodge on Friday morning after she turned on the new memorial fountain at Elkhorn Lake in Holton’s Rafters Park. Reichle said the new fountain, a Crown and Geyser fountain paid for by a donation from Hodge in memory of her late husband, Harold Hodge, will run 24 hours a day, with lights on from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Installation of the fountain has been a long-time goal of the parks and recreation department, Reichle said, noting that the fountain will aerate the water, curtailing the growth of algae on the lake’s surface. A video of the fountain’s launching may be found on our website.
