Fire destroys log cabin home near Delia

A late Thursday evening fire destroyed a log cabin home in Delia, according to Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse. No injuries were reported.

 Firefighters from Delia, Hoyt, Mayetta, the Potawatomi Reservation and Silver Lake battled the blaze at 7466 106th Rd. just east of Delia from 11 p.m. into the early morning hours of the next day.

“The temperatures were in the single digits,” Morse said. 

Jackson County EMS and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

“The fire was brought under control a little after 1 a.m., however, the structure was a complete loss,” Morse said. “The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.”

According to county records, the property is owned by Cathy and Ramon Ramirez.
