Concert to support area troops is Saturday

A concert in support of area servicemen and women will be held Saturday evening at Banner Creek Reservoir featuring The Blake Camp Band. 

The event is being sponsored by Banner Creek Reservoir and the Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. 

Based at Atchison, The Blake Camp Band will perform “honky tonk” music at a shelter house on the north side of the reservoir from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Park entrance fees are being waived for those attending the event as concertgoers are asked to bring either a non-perishable donation or a Christmas gift to send to the troops stationed overseas. Monetary donations will also be accepted and be used to cover the cost to ship the items.

The donations will be used to benefit the 2nd Battalion 130th Field Artillery. Members are currently deployed to Kuwait.

A food truck will be on site during the event, and a beer garden is being provided by VFW Post #1367. There will also be several product and craft vendors at the event.
