Commission approves Courthouse lighting, ceiling improvements

New LED lighting and ceiling tiles have been purchased to update the offices on the second floor of the Jackson County Courthouse, it has been reported.

At a recent Jackson County Commission meeting, the commissioners approved the purchase of ceiling tiles from Pro Ceiling Tiles in the amount of $13,498.80.

The new tiles purchased will need to cover 4,400 square-feet of office space located on the second floor, which includes offices for the treasurer, register of deeds, county clerk and county appraiser.

Each of the four offices on the second floor have drop ceilings that were installed sometime between the late 1970s and the early 1980s, it was reported. The current tiles are made of fiberglass and are peeling in several areas.
