Bell to stand trial in September

A Holton woman has entered a plea of not guilty to a felony charge of aggravated assault stemming from a December incident that led to an armed standoff between Holton police and a man identified as the woman’s husband shortly afterward.

Topeka defense attorney Kathleen Ambrosio entered the not-guilty plea on behalf of Erica Bell, 23, on the aggravated assault charge and two domestic battery charges against Bell during an arraignment hearing on Friday morning in Jackson County District Court.

Judge Norbert Marek then scheduled a two-day trial to begin Tuesday, Sept. 18 in district court on the charges, which arose after a Dec. 3 incident in which Bell allegedly assaulted Patrick Wayne Miller, 31, at the home of one of Miller’s co-workers.
