Ballot finalized for April city commission election

A spring election will be held on Tuesday, April 5, to fill two positions on the Holton City Commission.

Dan Brenner is seeking re-election to position four on the commission and is running unopposed. Brenner is currently serving his first three-year term on the board.

After a primary election March 1, the field of candidates for position two were narrowed down from four Holton residents to two — Mike Meerpohl and Rodney Miller.

In February, Meerpohl was appointed by the commissioners to fill the unexpired term of former Commissioner Erich Campbell.

Miller previously served one term on the city commission from 2002 to 2005.

Holton City Commissioners serve three-year terms and meet the first and third Mondays of the month at 7 p.m. at Holton City Hall.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 5, and all registered Holton voters will cast their vote at the Holton Veterans Club, 926 W. Sixth St. Voters are reminded to bring some form of photo identification to the polls that day in order to vote.

Advance voting is available at the Jackson County Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Jackson County Courthouse until noon on Monday, April 4.

For more information about the election, call the election clerk’s office at 364-2891.
