Elkhorn Lake spillway, road work is complete

Visitors to Elkhorn Lake at Holton’s Rafters Park may now drive all the way around the lake again. The road over the concrete spillway was closed by city officials in June of last year due to structural damage the spillway received in heavy rains, it was noted. But in recent weeks, work on a new concrete spillway was completed by Reece Construction of Salina, and Holton City Manager Kerwin McKee said the road over the spillway was reopened this past week after a guard rail was installed near the spillway.
